Halloween

Halloween has come and almost gone. The doorbell ringing is tapering off and all that's left in our bowl are assorted flavored tootsie rolls. Well, and now the candy is gone and I've turned off the lights.

Also, Chiara decided to start clapping today! I'll upload video to prove it as soon as I have it.

Mmm. Carrots

In the continuing genre of pictures taken of the kids at similar times/stages/actions, we bring you carrot-eating-babies. The first picture is Asher having some carrots in my lap over at the Serrins/Kremer house one day. The second is Chiara "enjoying" some carrots a few days ago. Asher is about 6 months old in his picture, Chiara, 10.

Play, Play, Play

This week we have various pictures of play.

Doesn't it look like Chiara is telling Daniel a secret?

This box of blocks from LD & Joey has been one of the most useful and fun toys of all time.

The Morning After

We went out for Breakfast tacos at Rudy's, hosted by Ted and Becky, and attended by quite a wonderful crowd. We ate on the patio but the outside patio had a huge table (I heard someone saying that it's a Rudy's tradition but I've only ever been to this Rudy's). Asher had a great time playing on and under and around the table. It was a regular table preposition party.

I think this one is just adorable and it makes me happy that he was wearing these pants the day after rather than the day before the wedding. Yes, the picture is oriented correctly; he was lying on the ground under the bench.

He had fun sitting in the big chair:

And he got to snuggle with Joey & LD. Or at least LD & one of Joey's dismembered arms (in the first picture).

Laura & Jason's Wedding and Reception

This weekend we got to attend Laura and Jason's wedding in Denton. It was a really beautiful celebration and we had a very good time. Asher was the life of the party and is in more wedding photos than you might expect due to his love for cake.

Rachel made a sling to match her dress and it was quite beautiful.

I'm sure there will be many more and better pictures of Laura and Jason than these but we didn't take many pictures of the wonderful couple.

The Best Medicine

How cute are these?

I've heard laughter is the best medicine. Enjoy:

Dressin' up and showin' off

Rachel and Chiara had a tongue-sticky contest the other day. I had one with Chiara last night at dinner that went on for a really long time but alas, we didn't catch it on film.

Chiara loves to do a down-ward dog and usually keeps her head off the ground until she decides to look back and flirt. Then she puts her head on the floor like this.

I certainly wouldn't declare it an obsession but we've watched Cars a few times this month and have been acting it out a lot lately. The other day we stopped at the store after the dentist visit and got a three pack with The King (the blue car), Lightening (red car), and Charley (the yellow car - the pace car). We also got a Katy Copter.

We're attending a wedding next weekend so we needed to get Asher a suit (or at least a vest and tie). This is the first one that we got and he tried on. We're actually taking this one back to the store because we found one we liked better (and which cost less) yesterday but look how fly (and big) our guy looks. Oh, also this tie is a clip-on but we found him a cool zipper tie that goes around the collar but you don't have to tie it.

Finally, congratulations to Deborah, Katie, and Zachary on the arrival of Emma Jeanne, 9 lbs. 20 3/4 inches at 1:56 10/10/2008.

Stuart hat

Asher's doll (named "Baby") has come out and is being played with quite a lot by both Asher and Chiara. Chiara likes to pat-pat the baby and say "Ba, Ba" which we assume means baby. Or perhaps here she's getting baby ready for the figure-four leg lock.

Rachel found Asher an awesome fedora for his Stuart Little costume. But he kept goofing off when I wanted to take a picture. Here's the best of the bunch:

All about standing:

Lime Face

We gave Chiara lime at lunch today. I remember when Ezra was a baby, he would take the lime, suck on it, make a pinchy face, shake his head, and do it again. Chiara didn't make such a face but she made a slight face and kept the lime. She was covered with lime juice and it occupied her.
